After using the Abortion Pills. The abortion is usually completed some hours later, although it may take longer. You will usually need a day or two of rest or reduced activity. bleeding one to four hours later – heavier than a period and there may be large clots.

After taking the second medication abortion tablet at home, you may experience the following: nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dizziness, headache and fever pain – usually within half an hour and generally much stronger than period pain.

Mifepristone

Mifepristone, also known as RU-486 or abortion pills, is a medicine taken by women to end an unwanted pregnancy. The drug works by blocking the hormone progesterone and ends an early pregnancy by preventing the uterus from building up its lining; it doesn’t actually cause an abortion in any way. As a result of this, mifepristone is not used on its own during the first trimester of pregnancy.

This pill isn’t used at all when there’s already a fertilized egg growing inside you (conception), or after 20 weeks gestation—so no matter what stage of your pregnancy you are in and no matter how much longer you want your child to be carried, mifepristone won’t help with either situation!

Misoprostol

Misoprostol is a pill that can be used to initiate miscarriage, induce labor, and treat stomach ulcers and postpartum haemorrhage.

Miso (also known as Cytotec) is an alternative to surgical abortion. It can be used up to 12 weeks of pregnancy. Misoprostol causes bleeding from the uterus and softens the cervix to allow for the passage of tissue through the vagina.

Pills to end a pregnancy.

The abortion pills are a combination of two medications: mifepristone and misoprostol. Mifepristone (also known as RU486) blocks the hormone progesterone, which is needed to maintain a pregnancy. It’s taken to the doctor’s office and causes bleeding to start within 5-7 days.

Misoprostol causes cramping and bleeding, which can expel an embryo from your uterus within 24 hours. If it’s not expelled on its own, you may need additional treatment or surgery to remove any remaining tissue from your uterus (also called suction curettage).
